Dr. Susan Grace hails from a lineage of healers: her maternal great-grandparents were both chiropractors; her maternal great-grandmother was a midwife; her grandmother a nurse; and she has two sisters, one who is a massage therapist and the other a midwife!

Dr. Grace’s interest in alternative healing began well before she moved to Waldo County, Maine in 1984. As a mother, in the 1990s she searched out resources to help one of her children who was struggling with coordination issues, emotional dis-regulation, and immune challenges. At this time she became a Brain Gym Practitioner, learning the beautiful art of muscle testing, and became active in The New England Kinesiology Network.

After suffering from headaches and migraines for several decades Dr. Grace was introduced to Dr. Lydia Knutson’s low-force chiropractic technique, taught by Dr. David Newton. In 2003, travelling to Cambridge, Massachusetts for treatments, Susan was amazed at how much better she felt from only a few adjustments and began  to bring one of her children along for treatments. Phenomenal changes blessed her family and a seed was planted for Susan to become a chiropractor to share these modalities with her community.

After completing the undergraduate requirements at University of Maine in Orono and Kennebec Valley Community College, Susan enrolled in New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls. Prior to graduation in 2011, Dr. Grace began her internship with Dr. Knutson and soon became an associate chiropractor at Lydian Chiropractic. While Dr. Grace loved working with the amazing team of doctors, healers, and her patients at the Lydian Center, in Cambridge, she missed her friends, family and the country lifestyle of Waldo County. In September 2013, Grace Chiropractic was established in Belfast, Maine. For the first few years Dr. Grace commuted between Cambridge and Belfast as her practice developed. Since 2016 Dr. Grace has been happily situated back at home in Waldo County and is so grateful for all the healers and patients, who through word of mouth, have built her thriving practice.

In Susan’s spare time she loves to hike, swim, paddle board, kayak, dance, Zumba, spend time with family (including her granddaughter Natalie), play cards/board games or read a good book!
